Blog swap. I can also craft!

Sammy at The cookie button is organizing a blog swap, where you're paired with a blogger that talks about things you usually don't.
And my partner is Meggs, whose blog is, mainly, about crafts, so here I go!

I'm going to explain a bit how I paint my sneakers.

Materials:
1-Sneakers
2-Water pot
3-Tape
4-Cutter
5-Brushes (in different sizes and shapes)
6-Pots for paint
7-Plate for paint mixing
8-Acrylic paint
9-Glitter (optional)
10-Glue
11-Turpentine
12-Pot for mixing glue and glitter
13-Cloth
14-Colors
15-Paper

Make a sketch of the color and design you want for your sneakers in a paper.

I usually cut all the imperfections the sneakers could have, but you don't really need to do that... that's just me being picky ^^'

Put tape arround the sneakers, so the non-canvas part can't get dirty.

Prepare your colors and pot with water.

Start painting!

I start with the background.

Don't fortget anything!

Acrylics dry pretty fast, so if you want to take a break, make sure to cover the pot so they're still usable once you're back.

Remember to paint every little space of canvas. Little things like that is what make the difference between crappy and nice.

Now that the background's dry, it's time for the pattern or whatever design you thought of.

I wanted to do some flowers, so I thought making a guide would be fast.

But even if you think so, it didn't work as nice as I thought, so I just kept painting them manually.

Once it's done, let it dry. As I said before, acrylic dry fast, so an hour or so will be more than enought.

This is optional, but I thought adding some glitter would it make look cute. Just a bit, too much is... too much XD

Mix glue and glitter in a pot. Paint.

Let it dry.

This is how it will look before it's dry. Don't get scared! It gets better later.

Done! Easy, isn't it! It just takes a bit of your time, but it's worth it.

See? You're ready to rock!

You can do whatever you can think of with them, after all, these are just canvas in a sneaker form!

One of the things I really enojoy is making things.
I prefer a cute self-done accessories than a bought ones. That doesn't mean I don't love shopping for accessories XD thing that I love too, but things you made yourself have that special feeling, that something that makes them nicer. Plus, you are the one who chooses everything, from the design, to the colors, etc, so it surely is perfect when done.

Obviously not everything cames out nice and well done the first or second time, perfection needs practice, but for me, it's worth it, even if in the process you get a bit depressed.

So, over the years, reading magazines, browsing the web and reading blogs, I've ended piling up a lot of DIY tutorials, from reciclyng clothes to making pouches and a lot of random things.

There are no instructions in this post, but it's a pretty easy project to figure out, and a really original idea full of possibilities!

Cute video and buttons desicion

This short animation by Siri Melchior and the trunk animation team is a nice thing to watch.

A bitter story with a happy ending is used to show a really cute drawing style where one can learn lots of things from.

On the other side, I was ironing some clothes this morning and had the idea of changing some buttons from my picnic dress.
It has white, plain buttons on it, and since i got a bunch of cute new buttons, I'll get them replaced. Just look at the pics and tell me what you think ^^

Ok, these are definetely a big NO.
They look too big on the dress, and too discreet in a color sense.

I love those heart shaped buttons, but I only have a few of them and I don't know if I really like how they look on the dress (who I am trying to fool? I love how they look on the dress!).
Plus, they may be too small.

I'll probably end up using these.
I like them lots too and they're bigger than the heart-shaped ones but smaller than the first set.

Talking about sewing, I'll be posting tomorrow about my DIY inspirations for this summer.

I already started using some of the tutorials out there, but there's still lots of time and things left to do! Summer is just about to start!
