Miumiu Fall 2011 RTW

This post was supposed to be posted more than half a year ago, but I never got around to do it.
And seeing as how I absolutely can not like Miu miu's Spring 2012 collection, except for the shoes and some of the purses, this is a nice reminder of the season that's ending.

These are some of my favorites from the collection.

Kawaii dotto ai

Have you ever had your wisdom teeth removed? Well, I did last friday, which resulted in me staying the whole weekend at home. Which ended in me finding this cute videos.

The themes of the videos go from your typical 109 super-cute shop to a cosplay maid café and the latest trends. Everything in Japan. Everything introduced by Jelly's Mana Honda.

I'm not sure if a lot of people know about this, since the channel only has a few hundred subscribers, which is a pitty since all the videos are so cute (and short! haha). But you can go over Kawaii.i official channel and watch all their 26 episodes (up to date).

And you may think this post was done to distract you from my long abscenses while bribing you with some eye candy. Well, you got me!
But on the other hand, summer holidays are coming soon (this is my last month at my current job!), plus I've got a big announcement to make, which means more posting starting soon.

Coordinate catch up #5

How long has it been since my last post? I don't even want to check... But the good news are that I'm not getting that tired anymore after work, I'm getting so used to it I don't fall sleep right after getting home anymore! haha
And what does that mean? More posts coming up in less time! I hope you're all waiting for them! (I know Bianca does ♥ ;D)

Anyways, here are some "recent" coordinates. You can see the dates on the drawings, so you'll see there are no coordinates from this year. That will be left for later.


Last year coordinate. Tehee. These three coordinates are work coordinates. I don't really do much besides going to work, so all I can draw lately are work coordinates. I don't dress much different from my free-time coords, but still.

Listen flavor top, H&M skirt, black tights and Blanco ballerinas. Ballerinas that are getting broken from using them so much ;_; and I can't buy them again anymore... Does anyone know where can I get something similar to these? I don't care if it's an online store. Help pretty please!♥


Another pair of boots that are dead. They definetely broke the other day while going to a friend's house for dinner. Luckyly we only went to his house, then back to mine, so not much walking needed, but still.


Ooops, a couple coordinates from October! I should have posted them long before, but I misplaced them and only got to scan them recently.
This was my first day of class, and it was so cool! I'm learning how to create fabric patterns, and I'm learning lots!

October 6th I realized I never draw any earphones or mp3 with my coordinates, even if I wear them ALL the time when I'm outside.
That was also an interview day, for I job I kinda got (months later) when I already found my actual job.
(And yup, October was still a hot month here).

I think I really should start coloring my coordinates, color is an important part of every coordinate!

Miu miu SS 2011 - Ready to wear show

I've been meaning to post this since the Miu miu spring 2011 show a few weeks ago, but drawing and editing takes its time and I didn't finish this until yesterday! And I'm glad it took that much time, because my view on the collection changed a bit since I first saw it. So here are my thoughts on it.

I'm not completely in love with it, but I like it more since the first time.
Yes, the jackets are still awkward and the dresses don't look flattering even in small bodies, but now that I'm used to the collection, everything looks more pretty now.
And the shoes aren't that bad.

Four of my favorite looks from the collection. I really liked the third coordinate, including the shoes. Specially the neck of the shirt.
What I didn't like very much were most of the skirts. Too straight and didn't move with the model's body (not all of the skirts did that, luckily).

One thing that stood out while watching the show was how similar are some motifs to Irregular Choice's designs, mainly the stars.

The bags remind me greatly of Victor Horta/Hector Guimard's Modernism. Not all of them, there are some horrible bags thrown into the collection, but a few of them do.

This is not one of the ugly bags, for example.

Also, the loved-by-everyone swam dress and the snake dress remind me of Aubrey Beardsley's drawings. Yup, as I was saying, hello modernism (flowers everywhere too).

Third look, a skirt that looked good, and one of my favorites. Jacked included.
I'd really like to see someone on the streets wearing one of those awkward jackets. They are pretty but the shape is too weird. Like if the person wearing it was an american football player.

Some of the dresses made the models look like they were wearing plastic bags, not very flattering. On the other side, dresses like the swam ones were loose, which looked good.

What I love from the dresses is how, by using the belt, it makes the body shape stand out, and actually showing some shape, even if the models are so thin they have almost no curves. But I think that is a nice contrast. Straight forms are nice, but a bit of shape is pretty too.

But I'm in love with the shoes, I ought to confess. The color choice may not be the best at times, but putting that aside, I've come to like them a lot. In fact, shoes were the first thing I came to like from this collection.

Again, something that could came from an Irregular Choice shop, but that's something I don't really mind at all (any other IC fan out there?)

Ok, I have to admit defeat. After drawing them, and having to stare at them for a long while, I can say I love them.

Clutches, are you sure they are?

If you look at how models hold the bags, you think they're clutches, don't you?
I like them, a lot. I went from "ergh!" to "I want this and this and this. And I don't like this color but I want it too". But maybe they're too big to just hold them all the time.
Even more if you're like me, whose purse gets full even when going out for a couple of minutes.

Seeing how long the straps are, you might even be able to hand them on your shoulder? That would be great.

The lightning is not the best, and maybe the whole ambience is a bit depressing, but anyways, it's worth watching it.



All the models were walking so awkward... nothing strange seeing how tall the heels were, but still, it looked weird. Distracted me at times.
Loved the make up, though. Nothing complex, but stunning. Cute.


You know those times when you dress, not thinking about how others see you, instead you dress up just for yourself, thinking about that movie you saw last weekend that you liked so much and that left a big impression on you, and then you go to a party dressed like that not giving a shit about the world? Well, that's the impression this collection gives me.

Now, your thoughts on it?

Fur Fur Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

I'm getting ready my review for the miu miu SS2011 show, but it's taking longer than expected, so meanwhile I want to show you another runway show that caught my attention because it's so cute, I can't stand it. Cute, not in a pinky frilly dress, but in a romantic original way.

It's Fur Fur's show (Aya Furuhashi's brand, I promise to study more and do a whole entry just for her!), and even if it's the first time I hear about this brand, I'm already in love.
Not many words needed, so enjoy the feast!

Layers and mix of textures, what else can I ask for?


This blue one, is the most catchy one in the collection. Almost my favorite. What I specially like is the enormous ribbon and the short red-pinkish hair all together.

A few random things since I'm too tired.

Really, what's with me? I can't be this tired, I haven't done anything all day!But the weather is really hot, really really so much I almost fainted today once! Well, it wasn't THAT bad, but I was pretty queasy. I even had the air-con on! I don't get it...Anyways, as I said yesterday I wanted to post a recipe today, but didn't have the strengh or the cheerfulness required to draw (u,u) so you'll have to do with a few news I found interesting c:

MEG and her kitty Riu-san have become Sanrio characters for her MEG Birthday Party in Puroland 2010 concert on October second! Ticket reservations start on the nineteenth with preference given to members of her fan club; the tickets range in price from 4000 to 30,000 yen.

Don't really care much for Sanrio characters, but MEG just makes them SO adorable... aww

Finaly, some interesting shoes I saw yesterday on NYLON magazine's blog.

They're supposed to be a super comfortable pair of heels, since they're developed with athletic technology.
Really good idea in my opinion to tell you the truth. I hope they work.

I don't really like much the design though. Hard to match with any sweet trend. I suppose they'll get nicer once they start making them serioulsy or something.
But they remind me of those pretty EVAs from Evangelion, so that makes me see them with pretty eyes. Wouldn't mind wearing them c:

Miu miu fall/winter 2010-2011

I'm not really inspired to blog today (I had several posts in mind, but that would take time, and it's too hot right now, no strengh haha) but I wanted to post something anyways, since you know, once you stop doing something, you stop doing it forever!! D:

So I got today in the mail the video about Miu miu's 2010/2011 fall/winter collection.
The videos and my thoughts about it coming next.

I love the shoes. And I like the make up. And I find some of the models are pretty cute. Not much more to say.

But I have to say I like the shoes. Wait a few weeks and I'll be loving them.

Miu Miu - Fall Winter 2010/2011 Full Fashion Show Part 1

The dresses are nice. Retro-ish and simple with a blink here and there. And flowers.
Pretty black coats. I love the rhinestones and the cut for most of them.
Didn't like much the orange pieces. Just because I don't like orange. Have they been... any other color, I would have loved them.
What I didn't like at all were those ribbon collars. And I usually love anything that has to do with ribbons! hah Just, not this time.

Miu Miu - Fall Winter 2010/2011 Full Fashion Show Part 2

The dresses were something really pretty. I wouldn't mind getting the lavender one. Obviously with matching shoes.

What gave me the creeps were the girl's legs. I know they're models, they ought to keep thin, and all that old story, but I got too distracted by their legs and didn't focus too much on the clothes. Is that what they want??
They al look like they're gonna break at any moment, and this distracts me too much D:

So, overall comment? I'd love to go to my job interviews dressed in this collection. I'd feel like the fuckin' queen and get all the jobs. haha

On a side note.

This pic is from Amo's blog. You know, that girl that's appearing constantly in Kera, is Monomania's spokegirl (kind of haha) and is on Angelic pretty's ads every now and always.
Don't know much about what's going on here, something about Barbie's cosmetic line (this thingie in the pic is a powder in a stick form) at Plaza.
But I love the drawings in the background. Good old Barbie!

Lolitas, decoras, gals and other japanese styles in Barcelona

Madame Chocolat is a shop that opened recently (June 12th) in Barcelona.
The cool thing about it is that it's a specialized clothes and accessories shop all about japanese fashion.
I haven't been to the shop yet, but you can see lots of pics in their blog. I'll try to go soon and take some pics to post here! I hope they let me! haha
If you happen to be in Barcelona, or live there, or whatever, just have the chance to take a look, the place is situated in Passeig de Sant Joan 5 (esquina Alí Bei).

And today, TV3 (important TV station from Catalonia) did a report about the shop and japanese fashion in Barcelona (and in Spain, kinda).

The video is 80% catalan and 20% spanish, so sorry about that, but still, you can see some cute girls.

They talk about what is fashion, and japanese fashion to them, how is it different here from Tokio, when they wear those clothes and a few more things.
And the people from the TV look kinda understanding and don't mess up with the explanations or anything, pretty odd coming from TV people.

On a side note, PetSugar is in the middle of her crusade for gettin her dream come true: being photographed by Jamie Nelson.
His photos are really something, so beautiful and poetic! And I'd really love to see the lovely PetSugar photographied by him, so please, go take a look at the post and help her in whatever way you can! c:

Introducing brands: grimoire and tarock

As Mori-kei gets popular day by day, same is happening to dolly-kei.
I want to introduce a couple of stores where you can find dolly-kei clothes, just because I'm in love with them! haha I find them completely compatible with mori, and you can always find interesting things looking at places outside your style range of shops.
I'm not much into that style since, althought it also abuses lace and dresses and hair accessories with flowers on them, it also makes use of more layering, clothes and item overdose. I like to keep it simple and free.
But the style really catches your attention, and it's being featured in snapshots a lot. It's getting really popular.

But first, a little about dolly-kei. I only want to say I'm no expert and I talk based on what I've read so far here and there and what I've seen. No bashing please c:
The best way to understand a fashion is looking at pictures, more than reading about rules and what a *random style name here* is and means.
Obviously a style always comes from somewhere, and means something to people, but more than anything, is something to have fun with imho.

Fur, Napoleon jackets, teddy bears, velvet, rouge, lace, huge hair arrangements, cameos, vintage accessories, flowers,... you get the idea.
The thing is, dolly kei can be taken in lots of different ways, if you take a look at the whole set, you'll notice there isn't a stric, clear and easy to follow definition of dolly kei. And I kinda like it that way.

You probably recognized Kaori Ogawa in the pictures, she's a model that appears in Cutie magazine and is a Grimoire staff and manager (right on the pic down here).
Together with Naoaki Tobe (owner) were the pioneers behind the Dolly-kei fashion.

Their store, situated between Harajuku and Shibuya, sells vintage, second-hand and anything that can have more years than your granny.
The fashion itself takes inspiration from antique Europe and America, and likes anything magical, fairies, old books, nature and animals, etc
So that's what you'll find in their store.

I don't know much about this brand, since I've just found it recently, but its shop is placed in Harajuku (how odd XD).
And sells dolly-key clothing, thus it being featured in this post, haha
Has a few pics in their site, no online shop and just a map to their location, but all the clothes they sell look pretty. Probably second-hand/vintage most part of them.
And the interior of the shop just looks beautiful! I'd just go to the shope to see the whole place.
